I thought I’d share some photos from Alba’s first Birthday tea at the weekend, a whole year old and what a year its been! She’s an inspiration to us everyday and it was wonderful to celebrate her milestone Birthday with both sides of the family. It was a joy watching her play with her cousin and being doted on by our families.

Her Birthday cake was Ottolenghi’s apple and olive oil cake with maple icing, recipe is highly recommended! She wore an adorable little one-piece from Tutu Du Monde and a cashmere cardigan from The Little White Company.

I hope you enjoy these photos from her big day, I can’t quite believe we have a toddler now!

January 16 – what a month! We visited The Pig, Brockenhurst and there was plenty of party prep for a certain little one’s first Birthday.

We also had the pleasure of working with some amazing and inspiring children’s brands. We’re thrilled with the response Little Look has received in its first three months, we’ve met some amazing people and are planning for some incredibly exciting projects for 2016. A huge thank you to everyone who’s supported us on this exciting new journey, it’s only just beginning!

Little Look Travels – The Pig Brokenhurst

The Pig0

Last weekend we spent a relaxed few days as a family at The Pig, Brokenhurst. After a more hectic Christmas than we’d planned it was wonderful to escape London and explore somewhere new.

The Pig is situated in a beautiful country house nestled in the New Forest national park. It’s homely and charming and most importantly of all – children are made to feel comfortable and welcome.

The staff were great with Alba and she was entertained by them all weekend. They provide cots, highchairs, extra beds for kids, board and lawn games, bikes and wellies, so it’s super-easy to travel light.

The Pig restaurant is renowned for its home grown produce and the menu changes by the minute depending on what the forager finds or the kitchen gardener harvests. It’s located in the orangery and the atmosphere is relaxed and children are welcome for all sittings.

We started both evenings in the gothic style bar; many of the cocktail recipes are created by The Pig and nearly all include at least one ingredient from the Kitchen Garden. I’d recommend the rhubarb and apple pie with vodka and amaretto!

After dinner you can choose to have dessert and coffee in the shabby chic drawing room full of comfy chairs, which is perfect for little ones who need a change of scene. The hotel can arrange local baby sitters if needed, but it was such a relaxed atmosphere we didn’t mind keeping Alba up a little later to have some family meals and watch her giggle with the other diners.

We explored the hotel grounds and discovered the smoke house, kitchen garden, greenhouse, orchard, chickens and much to Alba’s delight…pigs!

The Pig9

The spa is situated in this quirky potting shed and can only be reached across the pond, therapists are supplied by Lime Wood Hotel – another beautiful country house nearby and big sister to The Pig

The Pig10

Even in the depths of an English winter there’s plenty of life in the kitchen garden which supplies the restaurant

The Pig2

We met this guy on a beautiful walk from Beaulieu to Bucklers Hard, as well as some of the famous wild New Forest ponies – there’s plenty of opportunity locally for horse riding if little ones are interested. If they’re into books I’d also recommend a trip to local market town Lyndhurst where Alice Liddell once lived and provided the inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’.

Wall Decals – A Little Secret

Posted by on Dec 8, 2015 in General, Interiors

One of the questions I get asked most about Little Look projects is – “where is that amazing spot wallpaper from?”. Well, it’s not wallpaper at all and after all the questions, I thought I’d share this little secret with you; they’re wall decals – or stickers.  Wall decals are available in a huge range of styles and colours now and if you get creative, the look you can achieve without the expense or commitment of purchasing and hanging wallpaper is amazing.

wall decals - spotted changing station

wall decals - spotted wall

The trick is the technique needed for configuring them evenly on your wall. If you’re a neat-freak like me, you’ll like an orderly look and we’ve come up with a fool proof way of laying out decals; here’s the secret…

wall decals - pastel nursery

Firstly, decide how far apart you’d like your spots or shapes, the closer they are the more full and ‘busy’ the wall will look and further apart they’ll look more airy. Once you have the desired diagonal distance, mark this on a spirit level with some masking tape. You can then use the diagonal level indicator (top right bubble in the photo) to space your decals at the right angle and your measurement marker to ensure they are spaced evenly apart. Voila!

Of course you can also have lots of fun laying them out randomly too and create beautiful confetti or star burst effects. Here’s a little decalspiration…

Brand Profile: Cam Cam

Posted by on Nov 17, 2015 in General

I first came across Cam Cam when I was searching for organic linens for Alba. They have such a gorgeous range of GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified eco cotton soft furnishings, clothes and baby accessories. We love the playmat in ‘Grey Wave’, it’s the perfect size to pop in a corner for Alba to play to her heart’s content.

As well as playmats and bedlinen, Cam Cam also make bedlinen for little one’s doll cots and prams as well as baby accessories like pacifier strings (the little cloud detail is adorable!).

Cam Cam are based in Copenhagen and take inspiration from Japanese pattern and French refinement, combined with Scandinavian minimalism.

The designs are truly timeless and make beautiful additions to the home, whether in the playroom, nursery or living space.
